‘Solar Eclipse’ on way to Athens filmfest in US

Iranian short film ‘Solar Eclipse’ is scheduled to participate in the Athens International Film + Video Festival (AIFVF) in the US.

Co-directed by Raha Amir-Fazli and Alireza Qasemi, the 15-minute short flick will be screened at the Metamorphosis- Shorts section of the American film event’s 49th edition.

 A brief synopsis for the film reads, “Just a short time before the solar eclipse, Saqi’s life goes through changes”.

The cast list of the short flick includes Khorshid Cheraghipour, Paniz Esmaeeli, Anita Baqeri, Faraz Modiri, and Peyman Naeemi.

‘Solar Eclipse’ is a co-production of the Iranian company Sixth Side and the French company White Star.

The short film has previously participated in several global events, including the Switzerland-based Shnit Worldwide Short Film Festival, the Show Me Shorts Film Festival in New Zealand, the Nice Film Festival in France, the Rhode Island International Film Festival in the US, and the Minimalen Short Film Festival in Norway, where it garnered an honorable mention.

The AIFVF is an annual event, which was launched in 1975.

According to the official website of the fest, it is “Known globally as a festival that supports cinema from underground and marginalized populations”.

This year’s AIFVF is set to be held on April 1-7.
